One of the most common issues on a new DayZ server is finding zero loot or noticing that certain items have stopped spawning. This is usually caused by a conflict in your Central Economy files.

Here are the top 3 reasons why your loot might be broken and how to fix it:

1. The “Nominal” vs. “Min” Conflict

In your types.xml, every item has a nominal (maximum amount) and a min (minimum amount) value.

• The Problem: If you set min higher than nominal, the economy engine gets confused and stops spawning the item entirely.

• The Fix: Always ensure min is lower than or equal to nominal.

  • Example: <nominal>20</nominal> <min>10</min> is correct.

2. Maximum Item Lifetime

Every item has a <lifetime> value in seconds.

• The Problem: If the lifetime is too high (e.g., weeks), and players drop items inside bases or in the woods, those items stay in the world forever and take up “slots” in the server’s memory. This prevents new loot from spawning.

• The Fix: Keep the lifetime for common items (food, basic tools) low, and only increase it for rare high-tier loot.

3. Modded Items in types.xml but missing from spawnabletypes.xml

If you add a modded weapon to types.xml but forget to add its magazines or attachments to spawnabletypes.xml, the gun might spawn “naked” or, in some cases, cause an error in the loot queue.

• The Fix: Double-check that all modded items are correctly defined in both files.
